Chieftain's roll-on roll-off skip trailers are purpose-built for waste management companies, recycling centres, scrap metal merchants, and local authorities that need to transport large waste containers efficiently and legally on public roads. The RORO design allows containers to be rolled on and off the trailer using the skip loader's existing hydraulic system, minimising handling time and maximising the number of container movements per shift.
Both the 2-axle and 3-axle models are designed to accept CHEM-standard skips and containers, ensuring compatibility with the industry-standard equipment used across the UK and Ireland. The 2-axle model has a gross weight of 19 tonnes with a 6.5-metre bed length, while the 3-axle model increases capacity for heavier containers and longer routes.
Standard specification includes a telescopic drawbar with air-operated spring-return pins, guide rails fitted along the trailer length to accommodate roll-on roll-off bins, 10mm mild steel plate flooring for durability under heavy container traffic, and adjustable-height jack legs at front and rear. Commercial axles with air suspension, WABCO EBS electronic braking, and full LED lighting complete the road-going specification.
All RORO skip trailers are supplied with EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval certification, permitting legal operation across all EU member states. The trailers are shot-blasted and finished in two-pack primer and paint, with reinforced floors and guide rails designed to withstand the constant loading and unloading cycles of commercial waste operations.
