3 Axle Semi Low Loaders

Chieftain’s 3 Axle Semi Low Loader is designed and manufactured for the demanding transportation of heavy plant, construction machinery, access equipment and specialist loads, combining high-strength construction, efficient loading and excellent versatility in a trailer engineered for intensive commercial use.

Compliant with EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval up to 44 tonnes, the trailer has a gross weight of 44 tonnes, with an optional 50-tonne configuration depending on the towing vehicle. Its 13.6m overall length provides a substantial and highly usable loading platform for a wide range of tracked and wheeled machinery.

At the heart of the trailer is a heavy-duty chassis constructed from high-tensile RHS box section, complemented by 8mm S355 folded high-tensile steel side chimes. The deck is finished with durable Keruing hardwood flooring, providing a robust working surface capable of meeting the demands of intensive plant transport.

Particular attention has been given to making loading straightforward and maximising the usable area of the trailer. Hydraulic powerslide rear ramps, operated through an electrically driven hydraulic power pack, can be positioned to suit different machine track widths, while the full-width hydraulic neck ramp provides easy access onto the gooseneck, allowing more of the trailer to be utilised when carrying multiple or differently sized machines. Swing-down support legs beneath the beavertail provide additional support during loading.

Commercial running gear incorporates 10-stud commercial axles with 310 x 190 brakes and automatic slack adjusters, together with air suspension featuring raise/lower control. A front lift axle is fitted as standard, while an optional self-tracking rear steer axle can further enhance manoeuvrability when operating on restricted sites and during intensive road use.

Braking performance is provided through dual-line air brakes with WABCO EBS, load sensing, and park and shunt valves, while a tyre pressure monitoring system provides additional visibility of tyre condition during operation.

Load security is incorporated throughout the design. Recessed lashing rings are positioned within the S355 folded side chimes and trailer deck, providing numerous secure restraint points without unnecessarily obstructing the loading surface. Galvanised telescopic outriggers, outrigger boards and dedicated storage trays provide additional flexibility when carrying wider machinery.

Practical equipment includes lockable stainless-steel toolboxes with rubber-sealed doors, a galvanised T-bar overrun on the trailer neck, twin rear LED flashing strobes, wide marker boards with LED lights, spare wheel, full LED road lighting and a wireless reversing camera with in-cab monitor.

A comprehensive range of options allows the trailer to be configured around individual transport requirements, including a self-tracking rear steer axle, hydraulic flip-toe ramp, ISO twistlocks, fall-arrest system, removable posts, winch, alloy wheels and aluminium neck surround. Optional ISO twistlocks further increase fleet versatility by allowing suitable container loads to be carried alongside the trailer's primary plant-transport role.
