Midi Low Loader

The Chieftain Midi Low Loader is designed for operators who need a compact transport solution for smaller plant and machinery. With a gross weight of 11.7 tonnes, the Midi Low Loader is particularly suited to contractors, plant hire companies, utilities, road maintenance teams and commercial operators who regularly move compact machinery between sites and often in busy sites, restricted yards, urban areas, roadworks and locations where access is limited. Its standard 4.2 metre deck with 1 metre beavertail gives a total deck length of 5.2 metres, making it practical for smaller machines while remaining easier to manoeuvre than larger low loader models.

Compliant with EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval, the trailer gives operators confidence that it has been built and certified to meet required safety, technical and road standards. It is fitted with commercial axles 310mm x 190mm brakes, dual line air braking with WABCO EBS, load sensing, park and shunt valves, spring brakes and automatic slack adjuster helping deliver safe and controlled road performance.

The raise/lower air suspension is a major benefit for a midi trailer, helping to improve ride quality, load stability and operator control. It also allows the trailer height to be adjusted when loading, unloading or coupling, which is especially useful when working with different towing vehicles or operating on uneven sites.

The trailer is fitted with a 28mm Keruing hardwood floor which provides a strong and durable surface for tracked and wheeled machinery. Keruing is well suited to regular small plant transport as it resists wear, impact and abrasion during repeated loading and unloading.

Loading is made safe and simple with 900mm wide hydraulic ramps powered by a hydraulic power pack. The short platform combined with beavertail and hydraulic ramp system make the trailer practical for daily use, while swing down support legs beneath the beavertail provide added stability when loading compact plant. Lashing rings are fitted into the bed and under side chimes, giving operators strong and secure tie-down points for machinery.

Practical features include a stainless steel toolbox, 410mm fixed headboard, two-speed adjustable height jacking leg, sideguards, spray suppression mudflaps, full LED road lighting, front and rear outline marker lights, rear red triangular reflectors, side amber reflectors, rear registration plate holder with light and conspicuity hi-vis tape fitted to the rear and sides.

The Midi Low Loader can also be tailored to suit different applications with a range of optional extras available including various deck lengths, 680 sprung ramps, full-width hydraulic ramp, rear reversing camera, LED flashing strobes, LED work lamps, additional stainless steel toolbox, front and rear wide marker boards with LED lights, ISO twistlocks, fall arrest posts and straps, and steel or aluminium drop-down sides.
